Teachers
NMA attracts competent and highly qualified teachers with different specialties. We offer effective teacher support initiatives in our institution that have ensured their continuous professional growth and have facilitated competency and teaching skills.
Learning is always a collaborative process, whereby learners are engaged in rich learning opportunities so as to satisfy their curiosity and quest for knowledge. Students are always advised that “learning is not a spectator game,” hence learners are often invited to ask “why,” share their experiences, and moreover research in discussion groups with help from their teachers.
The school offers termly and annual appraisals to students and teachers, according to performance in different areas and aspects related to students’ achievements.

Our academic standards are very high at NMA. Most of our students exhibit good behaviour, and the majority proceed to higher education, with many gaining access to top public universities in Kenya and abroad.
KCSE results have been outstanding over the years since 2005, alongside a candidature that has grown steadily each year.
We aim to ensure timely and adequate syllabus coverage in all classes, and that our students are equipped with good answering techniques right from Form One. This ensures learners are well prepared for the external exam early, since exam readiness is not a Form Four affair alone, and it contributes significantly to the school’s strong results.
A robust student support and accountability mechanism, reinforced by good discipline, further underpins these results.
NMA has transitioned from the 8-4-4 to the CBC curriculum, marked by the introduction of Junior Secondary at Grade 7. The school has invested in the infrastructure, well-furnished classrooms, and trained staff needed to deliver the curriculum effectively, helping learners develop competencies and discover their talents early so they can unlock their full potential. This transition now extends to Grade 10, with the school having welcomed its first cohort of senior boys under the CBC system.
NMA aims at making students become critical thinkers as well as problem solvers. Most of our classroom sessions are student-centered, where the teacher guides students so that they discover solutions, rather than telling them “how’’ to solve a problem. This challenges them to find creative ways to solve problems rather than being more dependent on the teacher.

Senior Boys
Our Senior Boys section has fully transitioned to the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
Grade 10 (CBC)
Our CBC boys joined last year and are now in Grade 10, progressing to Grade 11 next year alongside a new Grade 10 intake. Senior School follows a pathway-based structure: all learners take four compulsory core subjects English, Kiswahili, Mathematics, and Community Service Learning alongside Physical Education and ICT. Learners then specialize in three elective subjects drawn from their chosen pathway: STEM, Social Sciences, or Arts and Sports Science.
Our teachers have embraced ICT integration and technology for effective planning and research. The school also has a well-equipped Computer Laboratory to facilitate research and learning, supporting our Grade 10 boys taking Computer Studies and ICT, who continue to register splendid performance in the subject.
The school also has well-equipped science laboratories, including the Biology, Chemistry, and Physics Labs, which ensure that practical sessions are well handled by boys pursuing the STEM pathway.

Guidance & Counselling
NMA Secondary School has an active Guidance and Counselling office with professional counselling psychologists who are outsourced at times while some are part of the teaching team.
Peer Counselors
Student leaders are also trained as peer counselors as they provide guidance based on Islamic teachings to each other. The office of the Dean of Students and that of the Hostel staff in collaboration with the Deputy and the Principal work closely together to ensure students’ needs and problems are well addressed.
Students Welfare
The students’ welfare is well catered for as they have well-ventilated and spacious dormitories, classrooms, a well-kept dining hall with mouthwatering meals with a balanced diet.
Students Health
The students’ health-related issues are taken care of by the school clinician while more serious cases are referred to hospitals.

Frequently Asked Questions on Senior Secondary
NMA is located at South C, Nairobi West at Muhoho Avenue at Masjid Nur in Lang’ata Sub-county.
The average class size is 35 students
The minimum entry marks for Senior Secondary are 350 marks. However, those from North Eastern Kenya and Lamu Counties must have a minimum of 320 marks and above.
NMA admits both boys and girls in the Junior Secondary but they learn in separate classes. On the other hand, only girls are admitted in the Senior secondary.
NMA Junior Secondary offers the CBC Curriculum while the 8-4-4 System is offered in the Senior secondary.
Islamic studies are taught in integration with the secular studies as Islamic Religious Education is offered as a compulsory subject to all students. In addition, the students also have well outlined Islamic studies offered during the weekends by their Quran teachers. The school has a strong Daawah system, a variety of Islamic programs among them is the Quran, Quran Competitions and Halaqats which are normally student-centered aimed at covering Quran, Hadith and Fiqh. The books studied in these Halaqats include Riyadhul Saliheen, Bulughul Maram and Kitabul Dhikr.
NMA Senior Secondary has well-qualified academic staff who are all graduates with degrees in Bachelor of Education and registered with TSC.
NMA has been performing very well in the KCSE Examinations. The KCSE results have been outstanding over the years since 2005 as well as the candidature which has been increasing over the years.

Many of our students join the national universities through placement by the KUCCPS where application is normally done in school. Some students apply through international bodies and join international universities.
Admission is done every academic year after students have undergone a preliminary interview at school. The application form can be collected in school as well as online at a non-refundable fee of Kshs.1000.
